JayB43's Bio

Born In Buffalo N.Y., raced mini bikes and motorcycles in middle school, raced snowmobiles for the Sno-Jet team in USSA oval track competition as a teenager, then drag raced various cars in the "street" divison at Lancaster Speedway. I moved my family to Sebring, Florida in 1978, were we built and raced a VW powered sand buggy in Sand drag events in Lakeland and Orlando Speedworld. Later, raced the same car in Mud Drag events (I hated that!). When the Sebring Dragway opened in the late 1980's we built a VW powered dragster for asphalt. During one of the subsquent re-openings, I drove a big block 1966 Chevelle for L&M motors. I purchased the Chevelle from L&M after the track closed and occasionally race at Orlando Dragway. I have a supportive wife and 3 children, Dustin, my middle son, & I will be partnering to build and run the 2008 challenge car, his 2000 Trans Am was in GRM's June issue

Bodywork complete Sept. 21
We fixed a bunch of small dings and dents, all in about 6 hours... we are painting the roof, wing and decklid in black epoxy primer, so fine detal is not necessary... although it will be pretty straight due to my time spendt working in a body shop... More »

Downpipe Bend Sept. 19
As I suspected, the fit of these parts is less than perfect, we had to bend the downpipe up and over to the right about 3 inches, I am not sure what this chrome pipe is made of, but it was harder than hell to bend even after getting it ... More »

Craigslist Turbo Install Sept. 19
We scored a turbo kit from a young guy with too many speeding tickets on Craigslist.. it was pretty complete, but no instructions... This is first time turbo install for us... So we are asking a lot of questions and doing research to hopefully make this run without exploding the ... More »
