I purchased the not running last summer, spent a bit of time working out some of the issues to get it running before the PNW rains came for the fall. Since for the first time i found myself with a reasonable organized shop,  full of tools of my own and TIME. I decided to go my way and build somethings a bit more creative but with purpose outside of the whole "037" "tribute" business or a "show car".  Built to break and rebuild.  This means eventually ill make molds/reproduce as much as possible from glass/carbon to preserve the pricey bits of a car that may only be 1/500ish still on the road stateside.

Ill photodump, and get around to more descriptive breakdown posts.

I began testing electrical function last night, and it seems to all be working with my modifications. I spent a lot of time to maintain the same circuit colors as reflected in the stock diagram. Engine piping should be next, along with the facet fuel pump, brake lines, and pedals.

Any skid plates?

Are you going to modify front and rear valance / bumper?

What shocks?

Love those wheels! Ronal Turbo?

In reply to Slow_M :

Skids 100%, bumpers probably not, just remove em for the race.

i picked up some Vicks auto coil overs, and plan to replace the small helper spring that does nothing with a soft 2-3" 150-185 or so. Sorta a bootleg setup but it's not pricey and the quality seems good.

You actually have a set of Ronal Turbos with a 4x98 bolt pattern. I'm impressed. Not to sure about the rally cross aspect of the build but it's your car so have at it.

Beautiful car and project, definitely following this one. I think you're a little nuts for racing such a rare chassis in good shape, but at least molding new panels for racing to preserve the original sheet metal is a good plan.

This rules. I have dreams of turning my X1/9 parts car into a rallycross car in a few years.

with the wiring complete minus the tail lights I took a break to get the lexan I had laying around the shop cut and fit into the spare "race" doors and rear. I'm keeping the roll up glass setup in the other door cards intact for street use. Same thing goes with the rear glass, think preservation and also a bit of weight savings. The unfortunate matter is that the windshield had to be reinstalled despite it having a 6" crack.

With the sheet metal out, it was time to start on the first phase of cooling improvements. These cars are prone to engine and engine bay heat. Hence why the 037 has some big ole scoopy do-dads on the rear triangle. I don't generally take this many process pictures but i did. hopefully they are helpful if not at least pornogaphic to someone other than me.

It's been a moment, my wife and I run a vegetable farm so with the summer coming in I've neglected much of my online presence. Anyways. Still working away on the lancia for my race in about a month. Here is how it's sitting.

Love the car. Can you share your garage setup specifically the pit? Did you DIY the pit, do you have ventilation, do you have any problems with water?

Please try to cover your timing belt. The factory cover is not enough to keep stones out of the belt, and I do not see it. I'm jealous of the Ronals too.

Without a doubt. I'm also planning to work out some form of smoothing/Skid plate in the rear to limit the places things could get kicked up in there.

I love twin cam engines with the cams in separate housings.  I always think that looks so cool.
