I built an E34 540i6 touring last year. I kinda miss it but I kinda don't at the same time.  I have my M Sport so one M60 is fine with me.

I'm happy the swap is almost done.  Waiting on parts is what took the longest.  I still have paint to worry about since the sun wasn't kind to it.

I had an E12 528i5 that I really liked.  Slow but it was a good car.  A shame that it got sold.

They aren't hard to clean with an attachment that you put on your drill.  Takes 5 minutes tops per wheel.

Do you have links or pics of said attachment? I run one set of RS's and another set of Style 5's on my E28 so power tools sound nice for wheel cleaning. The E34 is looking great.

I loved my E12 but it was slow even with the M30B35.  That's why I'm going to (someday) build one with an M62.

Got it up and running on Friday and I've been driving it around town trying to work out some of the small issues that popped up.  The power steering pump that was perfectly fine before is most likely on its way out now.  I'm also getting what sounds like a power steering whine from the clutch area when I start to move the car from a stop.  That only happens at that time, not when I'm shifting or driving the car.  I'll most likely have to remove the transmission to replace whatever is causing the problem.  It's probably the throw out bearing.  I replaced everything except the flywheel.  The flywheel has 144k on it and was perfectly fine when I test drove the parts car around the sellers neighborhood and my neighborhood.  Nature of a project car but even with all that, it's still driveable and is actually fun to drive once it warms up (noises are pretty much non-existent at that point).  The E.A.T. chip that I found in the parts car really woke the M50 up in this car so that is a pleasant surprise also.

Here are some pics from earlier today.  I cleaned it up some.  I still need to clean the interior up again but it's not bad.  The paint shows really well in the pics but it did not win against the sun over the years and will need a respray later on.

Just over 400 miles into daily driving this thing and I'm happy with it.  I installed some new Meyle HD thrust arms and an early E36 M3 steering wheel in the car.  55MPH is so nice now lol.  Still a few little things that I need to fix on it but nothing major.

Also, my both of my E34's got Hotrod of the Month consecutively.  Pretty cool and totally unexpected.  Appreciate whoever does that!

I have a home made tool for replacing the large round rear suspension bushings on an E34.  You know the ones that go bad and allows the whole rear end to drift around under the car.  It apparently works because I used it successfully.

If any of you E34 fellas want it let me know.

Love me some E34 Wagon.

Just found this post. That was amazing work.

But what happened to the roof cross bars. If you still have them would you be willing to sell.

I sold the cross bars a long time ago.  Thank you for the copmpliment.  I ended up selling this wagon earlier this year like a bonehead.  I bought another wagon in the Spring and have done a lot to it.  I still need to 5 speed swap it, just beed busy with other cars.
