Call me crazy, but a bright yellow or gold could be fun.

Yeah, I thought the yellow was intentional.  And I think it looks pretty cool.

I don't remember - is this coming back to the Challenge this year or have you blown the budget by now?

Absolutely blown the budget.

Still the same basic car, however. The oiling, aero, and suspension tweaks put it over though

so, I know a guy who's been running 245's...

I should look at the XB rules again, w.r.t. aero.

also, 245's... means you probably want to think hard about getting the "pricey" up-rated race hubs.

In reply to Dusterbd13-michael :

no build thread.  it's a GridLife GLTC build, so that means it's K-Swapped.  I've been giving them some remote aero advice while I was away; so I know fair amount of the build.

The 'front end' is basically a bumper chop with HDPE(?) riveted to the bumper at the top, and screw/bolted to reinforcements on the upper side of the wooden 'undertray' (i.e. a splitter that doesn't stick forward of the front bumper... which in GLTC rules means no lb/hp penalty).  It's a concept that got explored in CFD about a 6 or 7 years ago:
Splitter or Air Dam – Which Design is Best? | Hancha Blog (wordpress.com)
Air Dam or Splitter - A Closer Look | Verus Engineering (verus-engineering.com)

Also, there's an aluminum duct from the cutout in the black plastic to around the radiator (opening is ~1/3 the size of the radiator face).  There's some in-work ideas about improving the exit from the radiator out the hood (I think I've alluded to being disatisfied with the vents on that car in other posts).

I think the front fenders are just rolled/pulled.  The bumper has a push-button lock a the upper corner that's spaced out from the body.

on the backside of the fender... it's a bit complicated to explain.  But there was a simplified version that was tried just by spacing the bottom of the rear of the front fender out... 4? inches with a bit of aluminum.  However far out it took to make the fender match up with the outside of the tire better.

On the back, I'd probably suggest you stick with your spoiler for now.  And I'd suggest your keep your rear bumper on.

As one who has spent little time on the forum lately, I can only say that this looks nothing like the blue Neon I was expecting to see.  Further, I'm too tired tonight to set about reading 87 pages of this thread to learn how we got here...

Am I weird for thinking that wheel/tire/car package looks cool from here?  I don't know if I'd mess with flairs yet when the combination isn't 100% settled on anyway unless it's a track requirement.

It rubs multiple places at rest while cycling the steering. No way it will clear and be functional. Dammit.

Also, i have a bad fitting causing a good size leak. Had to order another. Unfortunately it is the single hardest fitting to get to. Dammit...

At least i still have one more weekend before tbe event, right?
