lol, yeah, it was - I'm assuming - original equipment. The car isn't too rusty underneath honestly, just a few trouble spots.
I did a lot of work on it lately, suspension and brakes upgraded, all poly pushing installed, VVT engine and a transmission I found locally with <1000 miles on it. My back has been acting up so I haven't finished buttoning up, but it's been started with the VVT engine in it - so good new there!
You are sure moving on it a lot faster than I did! I'm glad to see it coming together and getting back out on the road!

It's going to be a good little car when it's done! You made it easy, I was very happy the rear parts were already all on and broken loose. I had a few fights with the ball-joints/tie rods, but nothing an abrasive wrench couldn't handle ;)
I was hoping to avoid it, but ended up tearing into the rear diff, removing the subframe, etc
All back together now!
We've come a long way in a short time! You can't look too close or the illusion is broken, but we're getting there!
Well, the little guy survived his first track shakedown. I'll do a full write up soon, but it really did a great job!
Aweome! It's getting used properly - looks great.
I'm glad you're still rocking the "peace frog" sticker! - It was there when I got it and I think it really fitted the car's vibe. hahaha
Some real questions --
1) Can you really sense a Miata hidden 4 kilometer's away?
2) You disassemble and reassemble a 1.8 in your sleep instead of sleep walking?
3) Are your eyes are really calibrated to check for the proper caster angle from 200 feet?
