I love how the passenger seat mounting is a higher priority than this thing running.

For real.

It shows you want this car to be enjoyed post challenge.  I admire that.

I am finding out that a swap and fab in a racecar is drastically different than doing it in a car you want to enjoy on the road.

You have no idea!

I have a pretty good idea.

Shoving a gm 3.9 v6 in an rx8 that I want to fully work with ac and car seats and radio, etc is giving me a damn good idea of the effort...  at least I am not rebodying it too!

The scary part is that you get another reality check when you start to drive the so-called "finished" car. That is actually where the "development" starts.

For sure!  This is where street car is easier and cheaper.  Races are 5k for the team.  Better have that E36 M3 right!

I can just take the streetcar around the block, then 15 mins to work, then further for date night, etc.  I am well aware the last 10 to 20 percent takes 80 to 90 percent the effort and time!

With the dishwasher installed and everything put away, I headed for the garage to finish up the passenger seat mount. I dug a welding practice scrap out of the bin

trimmed it down a bit (a few times)

and got a pretty good fit once I trimmed the C4 track foot to match:

i didn't feel like firing up the welder at 10:30PM so I called it a night. Tomorrow I'll get back to the garage around noon and weld this, then move on to design of the central air duct. Or engine wiring. Or fuel lines.

Passenger seat mounts finished:

I hate these seats, the backs are twisted and they're really uncomfortable. I have a pair of WRX seats that are much nicer to sit in, but they'd hit the budget $40 each.

And now I know how wide my engine air duct slash center console can be:

Can you remove the Upholstery and untwist the backs? I know on C5 seats we were able to do that

I will probably take a swing at that once it's up and running. Cue the haters.

Question...are you pulling from cowl and going all the way through the console area for inlet air?

Why not the easier fab choice and NACA ducts in what used to be quarter glass, now home depot racing plexi / junk lexan, whatever... and feed it that way?

Yes, air from high pressure area at base of windshield will be ducted down center of car to engine. Some will be for combustion and the rest will be for engine bay cooling. Not using NACA ducts in windows because sleeper.

I like the sleeper look for this build. I especially like how there is still backseat interior trim surrounding the engine.

OMG that is brilliant! I might have to hit the Salvation Army store for some old suitcases.

Brilliant yes, but not original to me. It was first done 60+ years ago with a VW or Dauphine with a SBC.

i've seen people use suitcases to hide air ride tanks, nitrous bottles, etc.  maybe i'll get an appliance box and put that over the engine cover, throw a ratchet strap or a bungee net over it.

Y'all gonna make me blush with the positive comments.

today was a shopping day, scored this mess of "removed on day 2" C5 parts for $200.

Gonna sell most, only wanted the air box parts and exhaust. I'm also gonna sell the C7 Z06 NPP dual-mode exhausts I bought a couple years ago. Should net a good chunk of cash to keep the project moving.
