I was working the last section and it was knocking until they shut it off... then it stopped doing everything.

A buddy of mine from Sweden sent me a video of an interview with the builder, but it's in Swedish so I didn't understand a word. It's interesting to see some similar elements in similar locations (Audi transaxle with Porsche cable shifter, exhaust packaging) executed to a different standard.

MonZora is on the back burner for a while, as I get my retirement life in order. I'm 100% not trying to get her back to the challenge in 2025. Look for MonZora again in 2026.

The high dollar Corvair build is definitely nice but I think yours is more impressive Angry because of the tight budget you had to meet!

An old friend sent me an eBay listing for this. At $30 buy it now, I could not resist.

I know you already have a nice custom tag...will Michigan let you run a vintage liscense plate that's the same year as the car?

In reply to budget_bandit :

yes.  i may do that someday, but for now the MONZORA plate stays on the rear, and I'll put this dealer plate on the front, as MI is a rear-plate-only state.

I'm going to spend 9 years of retirement just reading GRM posts and I'll never catch up.  What an amazing car!

I've got to show my ignorance and ask a question: That's a SBC 350 block, why do the pistons have two sets of valve reliefs on the crown if it's a 2 valve engine?  So they can be assembled either way when the connecting rod is attached to the crankshaft I assume?  Also, way to keep moving forward.

In reply to 11GTCS :

Look closely at the reliefs.  The reliefs for the intakes are bigger than the exhausts, and the reliefs are mirrored.  This allows them to have one piston even though half of the combustion chambers are left-exhaust and the other half are right-exhaust.

Makes it fun to hang pistons.

And when you buy Chevy pistons for a stroker Ford, that usually only have one pair of reliefs, you have to either buy two sets or whinge to the supplier that you need eight of the same one.  (You can get fairly cheap Chevy pistons with very short pin heights for 6" rods or 3.75" stroke or even both, which helps if you are building a stroker or long rod Ford)
