Sept 7th.
I'm hoping to have both the cab and the frame blasted and primed by then. Not sure how successful I will be.
Six hours of "pressure pot sand blasting" done today. Should have stopped at five.
And made more changes to the "sand blast cabinet" gun, and bought some VERY flexible 1/2" air hose to use for abrasive feed (the clear braided hose that came with the cabinet is garbage):
I think I blasted three hours. Might have been four.
Right side A-pillar and part of the cowl, and I was pleased to find zero issues with the top of windshield:
This is such an awesome build. ( I love your commitment with the pot blaster, I probably would have rented a commercial blaster by this point.) This will make a heck of a daily when you are done.
A commercial blasting apparatus likely has more than enough PSI/CFM to physically damage the metal if you are not careful. I'm at 14.5cfm and 60PSI; it's pretty gentle. But slow. But I'm saving $750-to-$1650 by doing it myself.
No blasting today, because I really needed a break.
I did fabricate a big 3" seat-belt washer to weld in the floor for the seat buckle side, and I welded in the ones I made for the retractor side. Also blasted the cowl panels and the fresh-air vents in my blast cabinet inside.
Made this video on the blast cabinet (though I've changed the gun again, since):
And altered the gun even more:
I hit the rusty spots under the dash only, did the cowl vent pockets, and did the kick panels. Then the inside of the cowl and part of the firewall before it started to rain. I cleaned up and came inside for tea.
Colours?
Grabber Orange and Wimbleton White (or a similar off-white). Yes, Ford colours.
I'm going for a "creamsicle" look.
My local auto parts store carries a PPG Fleet paint that seems to be a quality paint high in solids.
Finished blasting the inside of the cab, and started on the back wall. Did about three hours.
In half an hour, I take SkinnyKid1 for his learner's license....

This much:
Except now there is rain scheduled 'till at least Tuesday.
Once the cab is primered, we move on blast this:
Shop mess is getting the better of me....

We're currently doing a 1969 Suburban in those colors.
