I decided to not put on the welding gear today and had a nice piece of slag jump right into my shoe. I feel your pain. Fortunately I have beer.

In reply to Teh E36 M3 :

I wear flip flops as it's easier to get the slag off.  I once had a piece go into my boot and burn through my sock.  I'm also a redneck so not used to best practices.

dont grab hot metal it can burn you, my fingers arent very happy...

Just wait until you reach down and pick up the piece of metal you just used to torch to cut off. Then you go damn that's hot while you soak your fingers cuz you burnt them. That's what it's like being old.

Slag to the ear-drum.  That was a day.

Mind you, I was young and stupid then.

Stuff keeps popping into my head so I figured let's make a list.

Brakes need bleeding

Package shelf  DONE

Shoulder harness mount DONE

Seat mounted DONE

Shift knob attached DONE

Seatbelt attached

Front and rear lights DONE

Power steering belt put on and checks for no flip DONE

Exhaust DONE

Get stickers attached to magnet strips.

Need to buy.

Bolt to fit the treaded hole on the drivers left lap belt.  It's bigger than 3/8ths DONE (it was 7/16 fine)

Threaded rod for antisubmarine belt. (Tya Mr. Crawford) DONE

Vacuum bleeder. DONE

Brake line so MC can be bleed easier. (Take old MC with me) DONE

Pins for hood (Someone remind me to do this before towing to the Challenge) DONE

Might add more as things pop into my head.

Oh we can't forget Stampie's bar!  I got all the wood organized today.  Need to cut down the 4x4 legs to size and I'll probably build it in the parking lot Friday.  Need to throw the screws in the Suburban.

Is this car, like, on the way to the challenge? Cause if it is, might it not become the definition of the "Parking lot build"?

I'm sorry Sir but you don't understand the Stampies and deadlines.  I see this as a get to the hotel early Friday and relax.  Maybe.

Take a break for lunch.  Got a lot of stuff done this morning.

We merged Sean's Supra seat adapters with the bracket that Michael made and included in our seat purchase to get the seat mounted.  We got the antisubmarine belt mounted.  Michaels idea of using threaded rod to run through the Mustang seat box worked well.  Took a few tries to get it through the second hole but wasn't too bad.  Only thing I had to do special was double nut the front as the rod was just threading the nut when I tightened the rear.

That leaves for tomorrow.

Mount Seatbelt

Bleed brakes

Rehang exhaust (I know I said done but that was fixing the open headers.  We had to drop some of it to get the seat in and out.)

Cut wood for the bar

Finished up budget and it's at $959 with no AC shenanigans.  It includes some parts that aren't on the car but stuff I hope to add if I have time.

Got one autocross run in and then fuel starvation issues. Hard line solder joint failed on the fuel sender. JBWeld is curing right now so we'll see.

Such a bummer. No chance for a drag run I'm guessing? Kurt is in love with the patina of this car. Really hope you can turn this into a great driver.
