EDIT - SOLD

For Sale: 1964 Ford Falcon Futura 2dr V8 Auto       $22,500

This is a really cool, really well done Falcon. It is super fun to drive, and gets a lot more looks and thumbs up than you would ever expect. Everything on it has been upgraded or improved, and it is still very period correct – nothing gaudy or out of place. Everything works, and works better than new, and it is ready to drive every day commuting, or cross country.

It has had a caring owner that has done most of the upgrades on it. It has a dual circuit master cylinder and Wilwood disc brakes up front that work very well – stops straight and true and quickly. The suspension has received a lot of work. Upgraded shocks and springs in front and air adjustable shocks in the rear. Heavy duty 1” front sway bar – matching adustable 3/4” rear bar included, but not installed or needed with the air shocks. It has the Monte Carlo engine bay brace and subframe connectors and Traction Master traction bars, too. Torque thrust wheels look great and are larger and lighter than the original steelies. Rebuilt steering box. Bushings, bearings, tie rods, ball joints, etc. are all good – no clunks shimmies or rattles. This thing handles better than lots of classic sports cars!

The engine is the original 260 cu in V8, but has been rebuilt and blue-printed, so it starts out better than original. It has had headers and dual exhaust added – sounds great, but not loud or obnoxious at all. The intake manifold is a Holley Street Dominator topped with a Holley 600cfm 4150 4 barrel. For a little 260 – this thing rocks. It acts like a much bigger engine in terms of power, but spins up like the short stroke engine it is. It has a Pertronix electronic ignition and an aluminum radiator with overflow tank. This thing starts up first rotation from cold or hot. It is a jewel of an engine. It is backed up by a rebuilt 3 speed C4 automatic that shifts quickly and firmly, up or down. The rear end is a 8” rebuilt in the original case with positraction/limited slip added. New u-joints and slip yoke.

It has been repainted and presents very well, with a few defects and wear from time. The interior was restored to stock specifications with a few important improvements. It was completely Dynamatted and Dynapad added up front. It has a Sunpro Tach added and greenline Stewart Warner gauges for amps, water temp and oil pressure. The audio system is impressive – it has Focal speakers front and rear, with remote tweeters up front, and a JL Audio subwoofer in the trunk. The head unit is a Retro Auto Sound unit – AM/FM/MP3/Bluetooth. The windows are professionally tinted a light charcoal – looks great and compliments the color well. There are Hella 500 driving lights hidden behind the grille that are relayed and wired to only come on with the high beams – they really work!

I can't communicate how much fun this car is to drive – because it is all built to work together, and has been done well. Every seal in the engine, axle, tranny, etc has been replaced. It doesn't leak on top or on bottom. It's quick, it's reliable, and if you wanted to buy a cheap project car and build it to this level – you would spend double to three times as much. Extras included – front valence (in case someone doesn't want the Hella lights and the holes made for mounting them), front springs – same performance versions, just uncut. Spare rear Futura trim panel, spare blue interior vinyl, original steering wheel and new door seals. It also comes with a factory shop manual and a huge binder full of receipts and manuals for the things added to it.

It's not perfect – it has a stumble if you romp the throttle open (likely a secondary spring swap away from fix which I will try to do soon), the right front tire has a little outer wear, and it pulls slightly to the right – likely a toe adjustment, and there is a small ding in the roof and the right front fender behind the tire has some bodywork evident under the paint. The turn signal doesn't self cancel with the aftermarket steering wheel. That's it. For a 1964 car, that's pretty amazing, in my opinion.

Really nice. Looks like it can handle cruising and corner carving, and do them both in style.

Nice car. Too bad I've already worked out my early mustang/Falcon indulgence with having 4 of them.

If anyone is interested in getting a set of eyes on it, I bike down to that part of town all of the time and can run over there. It's located in Colorado Springs in the Old Colorado City neighborhood.

Thanks man - be happy to show it to you anytime I'm there!

Anyone else see it featured as a Hemmings car of the day?
