Ahhhh, okay, I'm seeing that now.  I guess I just drive around with my doors closed.

It looks like he was backing up with the steering locked to the right and swung the car into the pole. Its kind of a smear that stop where the door gets stronger by the hinges.

Looking over right shoulder + down on right = hitting close things on the left perhaps?

Man I'm glad I'm late to the party on this one. I'm only ~45 min away from the op.  My neighbor has one of these I've been bugging him for years to let me take it off his hands.  That said. If Tom falls through (unlikely) put me in line for it.

In theory I'll be staring at this beautiful machine later today. But that begs a question:

Do I roll the dice and drive the Ramp Truck? Or do I play it safe and drive my F-250 with a trailer? Or maybe I should just give my buddy a ride, drop him off at the truck, and see if he makes it home to Daytona.

Anybody want to weigh in on the best tool for the job here?

Clearly driving it is the proper adventure.

Vote #2 is ramp truck.

Also, it's race weekend in St Pete.  You got better options for things to do than drive him back.

Have him watch a vice grip garage episode for inspiration and how to check that the lightning tubes and sparkalators are in spec before heading off.

It was pretty well maintained. The only issue I see is the front tire.  I have driven on tires that are way balder though.

The owner drove it about twice a week the way it is. He moved to Arizona and thought better of going that far.

I would drive it to Daytona. Drop him off.

The best tool is a AAA card.

It still has the current plates that expire in Feb, not sure on the date of his B-day.

I vote drop him off.

BTW, how come this new truck owner is not a forum member yet with a build thread? Or is he?

Daytona to St Pete on a bus? What is that, about 18hrs?

Got text that they are on the road, no mention of mode of transportation.

I remember back when I was young I would take a Greyhound cross country to drive an unknown car back home.  And I liked it.  Mainly because I bought old Cadillacs and you can't kill an old Cadillac.

And just like that, we have a mini truck:

Quick update from the truck's new owner: Clutch is fixed (needed adjustment) and he drove the truck to work today. Success!

Great to hear! After seeing the Saab wagon up for sale I was wondering if we can put a deed restriction on a car? Lol.

I'm guessing the tire wear will be fixed with a $12 ball joint or two.

Strut rod (more like leading arm) bushings pancake on those too. Messes with toe and does the tires in. You can get urethane for cheap.
