I wish you could get a title that easily in PA because that's perfect for a project I have in mind.
Round here you have to order a research, wait up to 3 months to get it, contact the past three owners with Return Receipt snail mail, put an ad in the legal section of a newspaper, and then wait 30 days for them to respond. Then you can apply for a salvage certificate, then you have to do an enhanced inspection (scrutiny galore) and then you can get a salvage title.
I've done it twice and both times were awful and expensive.
I can get one in NY if you'd like. Get a weigh ticket from a scrap yard and fill out the paperwork for a homemade trailer. (has to be less than 900 lb).
And I never lie to the DMV.
