I want to build a bench for my boat that will allow the people sitting in it to face forward or face backwards, but also be used as a table for makin sammiches, fileting fish, or other nonsense when I don't have passengers. I'm thinking that I can do this with some sort of 4-bar linkage with sliders on the seat back and the seat bottom, as shown below. I remember doing some of this in school long long ago, but I can't remember how to set it all up.
Seat measurements are going to be about 6-8" tall from the deck to the top of the wood of the bench bottom, and about 20" deep.
Anyone do this stuff on the regular and remember how to go about doing it?
