My project car/ hopefully challenge cars stock shocks are near the end of thier useful life. I am building a SAAB c900. I saw a good looking deal on ebay for a set of KYB GR2 shocks. Are they any good? If money were no object I would get bilstiens, but challenge or no, I am on a tight budget. I used KYB gasajust shocks once on a mustang and hated them, but that car was a street cruiser, not cone dodger or corner carver. I understand that GR2s are milder than gasajust, but still more of a performance shock than oem replacement types. Does any one have any good or bad experiences with these? Would the gasajust work better for a cone dodger? Am I going completly in the wrong direction ?

I have no direct experience but...

The GR2 is what I would choose to pair with a stock spring if looking for a new shock.

I believe they are what the GRM staff used on the back-lot project miata.

Gasajust shocks are better for performance. GR2s are just eh, not terrible, not not better than anything but blown stock shocks really. If you still have the stock springs, it wont hurt anything to put them on, just dont expect to be impressed.

I plan to use stock springs, poly bushings and keep the stock ride height.

Drove 80k+ miles in a 92 Civic hatch w/ GR2's and Neuspeed Sport springs (1.5" drop).

The car wouldn't win any G contests, but they rode very well and never blew out over that time.

It's a slight, slight upgrade over factory. Lightyears away from Koni Yellows, FWIW.

I've run them also...not the best performance strut/shock out there, but for a comfy driver, they're not bad.

Hated them on my Neon RT. Just terrible. Nowhere near as good as the stock shocks on it.

They made a noticable improvement on my 97 & 02 Pathfinders.

GR2's are an OEM equivalent replacement. They are not a performance replacement.
