Gullwing America is proposing that as a re-body for 987s I think.

And the fact that it's 100 grand for a rebodied boxster...

I ran a local PCA autocross a few years ago where Chuck was running that blue car. It was amazing - the sound was glorious. It was 220% too much car for an autocross but that may have been the setup - he was on his way back from open tracking at Daytona.

The next year he showed up towing the the 917 on a flat trailer behind an heavy duty Ford Pickup- WITH A 356 SPYDER REPLICA ONRAMPS MOUNTED BETWEEN THE TRUCK BED AND CAB. He umloaded the 917, put ramps from the pickup to the trailer, backed the spyder down off the truck to the trailer to the ground, Autocrossed them both and then reloaded them.

damn.

and he seems like a great guy when I talked to him.

When did Chuck have a 917? I'm not surprised, but I didn't think he had 6 or 7 million dollars floating around (especially to be on an open trailer).

You're right, I just don't know Porsche models. It was the 904, not a 917. What can I say, I'm easily confused. Luckily the PCA guys are just, uh, organized enough that pics are still on their local chapter website from 2008. Unfortunately, there weren't any of the crazy towing setup.

I can't afford it, but I think the pricing is actually *extremely* reasonable.

This right here......the FFR cars can easily be told apart from their "inspirations", but aside from fiberglass, the Beck 550 next to a real 550 was next to impossible to tell without tapping on them.

I call bull on that. Having seen both next to each other at the local historic's they are very different. Way closer then most kit cars and 10x better then a FFR in terms of authenticity but still vastly different in person.

I think this is for a 914 looking at the overall dimensions. Looks almost like a Chalon kit or something similar.

Yeah, the 904 is beautiful. check out the Martin and Walker 904 replica. More like reproduction than replica.

The 904, GT40 and the early E-Type are my three favorite car shapes... in the woorld. Fortunately (unfortunately?) I can (only) afford one of them. Well, except for the small scale versions, all of which I had as a kid.

Tried to watch this video but the painful music was so terrible I just gave up after a few seconds...note to mr. beck, plain videos without what sounds to be like music out of a bad 80's Arnold Schwarzenegger movie so we can hear what you're saying, would be the way to go. Nice car though.
