So, I found out today that a friend is building a Cobra replica. I can contribute little to his efforts mechanically, but apparently there's some debate as to the scheme it should wear when finished. This is my favorite that I've found so far:
Show your work (i.e. no answers without pics)
That blue looks good. I'm also a sucker for British Racing Green.
Black on Black on Black. No chrome, but black chrome is ok.
One more for blue with white stripes. Also good with black with white stripes.

By "blue with white stripes" are we talking about this combo?
Wait...you're allowed to paint these in other colors besides blue with white stripes? Heresy!

white with blue strips........
All you guys forgot to show your work.
Green with (black or silver) stripes
i like gunmetal with black or darker grey stripes
The silver blue, no stripes in the first pic is my favorite.
Nobody gets a Cobra to be subtle...Polished with brushed stripes:
I thought all porsches and ford replicas were supposed to have gulf livery?

Red with no stripes.
I was going to go with black on black with no side pipe. But then I saw this and I've changed my answer. This is what, some flavor of 289 FIA Cobra? Maybe the later 427 body and with a different front bumper setup, but the general aspects of this are really doing it for me.
In reply to pres589 (djronnebaum) :
It was on Shelby's page for the 289 continuation cars. Body is the later version of the 289 FIA cars I believe.
EDIT: I will say I prefer the look of the 289 cars, If I ever had build my own new Cobra kit money I'd probably go with the Factory 5 289 USRRC. My Cobra has to have the bumps in the decklid for the suitcase too.
I'm throwing in another vote for British Racing Green. I'd go with gold stripes
Answer = Whatever color your significant other will help pay for....

I built my Cobra tribute using C5 Vette suspension and drivetrain. I painted it Corvette Atomic Orange.
My personal favorite color is Candy Red over a bronze base with silver stripe. I painted one of my first builds that color.

Guardsman blue and wimbledon white (It's a Daytona, I know, but it's what's in the garage)
