SWBMO and I decided that a dash cam for our cars would be a smart move. We want ones with front and rear cams. Enough videos out there of people getting smacked in the rear.

Theres a year or two old thread asking the same question, I'm just not sure if the answers are current or relevant.

So what say GRM?

I saw this used on YouTube. Anyone have any experience with this model?

A good resource...

I have a BlueSkySea that is many years old (still works) and a couple of Anker brand that have been good too.

I've been wondering about these more and more lately. Definitely interested in advice.

I've been happy with Intrinsic cams in our cars.

Edit; my dad forgot his in car camera for a track day once and the dash cam did a pretty good job too.

I've gone through several dash cams, and don't have any working ones right now. I think one factor is my reluctance/ability to spend more than $100 on a camera, and the FL heat in a parked car probably is a big factor as well.

I don't doubt the utility of having one, but reliability hasn't been good.

INAVI Thinkware QXD5000 is the best dash cam in the market, but it's quite expensive(around 300USD) and it's not available outside Korea...

I think 70mai A800 has the best value - it's reliable, has a lot of functions, and it's relatively cheap - 2ch version(plus hardware kit) is on sale for around 120USD at Aliexpress.

I usually consider dashcams to be somewhat disposable, lasting a year or so at a time, so I tend towards whatever is considered the best value on dashcamtalk.  However, for about the last three years we’ve been running some Magellan cameras I got on closeout.  Between the two of them, the only problem I’ve had is one microSD card dying.  Word of warning on the front/rear cams, last time  I researched, there weren’t any good ones at a reasonable price.  Might be better to just get two cameras.

Ths one got a good review in my local newspaper a couple days ago: https://www.scosche.com/nexs1-smart-dash-camera-suction-cup-powered-by-nexar-cf  I see Scosche has a number of different cameras available besides this one.

I have three cheapies from amazon. One clips over your mirror and has a backup cam in the mirror but records both front and back, one suction cups to the window and has a rear cam and records both, and one that is just forwards.  They are all cheap, they all work.  I'd find one that intrigues you and pay less than $100.  My cheapest was under $50.
