A 997.1 C2S with the factory aero kit is tops on my list!  So sexy with the aero kit!

What about a modded e90 335i? 400/400 is easy to get. More reasonable insurance rates, manual transmission and AWD, if you want. A friend had one and it’s shockingly fast. Altitude friendly too.

I stand by my suggestion.

Woody has a point. A $700 Hondata tune puts the Accord at 287hp an s 377tq with the change under the curve being huge. Also I'm old.

You can also likely get a decent discount right now because Honda is having a terrible time moving them.

We'll if we're getting absurd: A 2013+ Mazda 6 2.5L with a Corksport turbo kit. That'll get you a full size 300hp, AWD sedan with good driving dynamics. (This is secretly a plan of mine for the next winter car)

What Mazda6 is AWD besides the Mazdaspeed?

None. The Mazdaspeed and possibly the '18+ 6 will offer AWD.

Mazdaspeed 6! Buy in the 5-8k range leaves you 20k to keep it running. Pros: fun to drive, acceptable amount of aftermarket, boring looking so people leave you alone. Cons: terrible MPG, somewhat fragile drivetrain

Alfa Giulia?

I really liked the Giulia I drove earlier this year, to the extent that I probably would've ordered one if my wife didn't need a new car. Alas, it is not a $30k-$35k car unless you're talking about the vintage Giulia.

I'm extremely skeptical of the Guila's reliability.  Totally unwilling to take a risk on it....

I hear you. That's why I even considered leasing one, on the assumption that I can buy it when the lease expires, but at least that way the potential nightmare would have a well defined end date.

Oddly enough I'm also considering doing the same thing with the FCA product my wife would like to buy.

Some of the mediocre VW stuff becomes pretty amazing with a cheap tune also.

I could have sworn the third gen Mazda 6 came in an AWD variant. Well... it's not like I've never been wrong on the internet before.
