Rust has taken some of the inner structure of my replacement fender. The structure of the mangled federal is pristine. I'm POR15ing the rust. It hasn't affected the integrity of the fender. It looks like all the rusty metal did was hold a peice of foam to promote more rust.

Do I POR15 and send it, or pop rivet the good metal to the new fender? ( I have no welder)

I'd try to pop rivet some new metal in there. Is there enough room for a rivet between the inner structure and the exterior skin?

I'm thinking of Zing the new fender Metal back, and then riveting. If it ends up wonky,  I'll just drill out the rivets.

Are you on your way to Pebble Beach next year?  POR15 and go forward.

How clean does it have to be to apply POR15?

Pretty sure Bob has a fender he'd sell you on the cheap.

Por it up and bolt it on.  You won't make it any straighter, and it's just there to keep the bottom a bit straighter.

It's an $1,800 truck. I'm not sure why I'm giving this much E36 M3. Thanks guys.

As I understand it, get rid of the loose scale, and it's good. I'm going to read the directions, of course.

I'd wire wheel and hit it with the metal prep or ospho before moving onto the POR-15/rust paint etc.
