We have a task at hand that needs a GRM build day/weekend. KeithJ posted a free escort wagon, I saved it from the crusher, and Slowbird has a pair of donor cars acquired from or with assistance of other GRM members so there have already been 5 of us involved. I posted in the get together area but it gets no traffic.

basics: last 2 weekends of august are out. 2 cars near Pittsburgh need moved to near cleveland. I think early September will be best as far as me having a clean work space without 90 degree temps. We will be making an escort gt wagon by swapping in the bp and 5 speed from the rusty gt and have a no rust donor for all fuel stuff and whatever else. The wagon was electric and is a 23k mile California roller with legitimate zero rust that I can find and it rolls/stops/has nice interior. But all the gas stuff was removed including cluster and probably hvac. Good: we have 2 donors. Bad: Patrick has a bad back and can only work so hard before being out of commission for a couple days.

want to stick it to someone by BP swapping an electric car? Let's talk about when works for everyone interested

That's going to be a tough time to get up there.

That sounds like a ton of fun but I don't think there's anyway I can get enough time away to help.

I'm in, somehow.  For starters, I'll be in with ideas...

I like the creative use of AAA towing.  For $60 per year (2 years required so $120 total) Slowbird could have AAA Plus (gold).  This give 4 services per year and a service tow can be up to 100 miles.
Slowbird's: Sarver, PA to Pat's: Valley City, OH is 150 miles taking a no-toll route.  AAA is likely $3-$4 per mile over 100 miles so that gets expensive.

But, do we have a GRMer who could be a drop point for the cars within the 100 miles mark?  Something like Canton, Alliance, Warren could be withing the 100 mile mark.  This then gets the cars within 50 miles of Pat who then could pick a car up the rest of the way.  A one hour trip each way and not an entire day's commitment to get it done.

In similar fashion, when I sold Pat the two Q45's (one running and one not) I used my AAA Gold to have them both shipped the 87 miles to his house.

I'm in Harrisburg the third week of august and coming to Youngstown so I drive right by there. Not sure about the trailer empty for all my usual  drives in and out and back and forth though

I'm slightly north of Warren so I could house a car easily.

Also I'm in for shenanigans.

No, same spot. Living in the middle of nowhere makes everything feel close by, even if it's 35 miles away.

My plan if i went out and back past was to drop trailer at her house and chain it to a non running car then load/pick up on way home. Unfortunately there have been no out and backs for me so I'm planning to go out and get one car and hopefully we can find help to snag the second.

Is there an electric drivetrain that is getting yanked and sold? Or is that already gone?

Wait, Warren Pennsylvania?

No Warren, Ohio in this case. Jordan lives generally near Pymatuning Reservoir, a lake, body of water half in OH and half in PA. Jordan's on the Ohio side.

Ah. Ok. Was thinking it was Warren Pennsylvania. Nearest big town to where I grew up (40 miles) and where i would save all my allowance to go blow in the arcade.

Ive never met anyone not from the area that knows about warren, and got all excited for a minute.

On topic: yall need any southern stuff?

I drove from Conneaut to Hubbard Wednesday evening, didn't realize Jordan lives out there.

Can anyone commit to labor day weekend? I can for sure grab one of the donors by then and have a solidly usable workspace in front of the garage.

Haven't read all info. , so may be irrelevant. But as a note, AAA does require current tags on whatever they tow.

In reply to 03Panther :

Yes, AAA does require an unexpired plate but at least in Ohio, they have no way of knowing if the unexpired plate is actually from the vehicle they are towing. I grab a plate from one of my other cars.

I have a truck and trailer (with winch that hopefully still works). I'm a little over 5 hours away from Sarver, PA but Cleveland would be on the way back, so I could possibly transport one of the vehicles if that help is still needed. I might also be able to assist with some of the work that needs to be done depending on the timeline. I should be free labor day weekend, or the weekend before if getting the cars to Cleveland before the work weekend is the plan. Some amount of fuel cost compensation would be nice (I think it was mentioned in the other thread) but is not an absolute requirement.

Obviously if someone is in a more practical location to do the towing that's fine, but if no one else can do it, I don't mind. My trailer doesn't get used enough anyway.

Big not good development: my trailer is broken bad.

For some reason, making the drive to transport *both* vehicles instead of just one seems less impractical to me, so I could do both. As long as there was someone at each location to aid in loading/unloading. My weekends are all free too, if it would make sense to have the cars moved before the actual Labor Day weekend wrenching event.

Let me know if that's something that would work/make sense. Forum PM should work, and I've been checking this thread a few times a day for updates.
