I finally got to drive a C6 Corvette, and a Z06 with some great mods at that. I've driven a C5, C4, and C3 before and found all of them heavy, numb, and underwhelming. This felt exactly the same only with power. So, yeah, I can now safely say that there's no GM made outside of Australia that I would ever actually buy for myself. Still though, fun car.

At least GM makes good air conditioning

What about the C4 ZR1?

No. Okay what about the 1LE cars?

No. Okay what about the SSR, that's a sporting machine.

Still no. Well surely no one can deny all the luxury of the Cadillac Cimmaron. More sporting you say?

What about a Quad 4? Timing chains are normal wear items right?

What we need is a handful of your LS powered Utes.  Our import rules make it painful but I have seen a few licensed here.

Well there goes the only redeeming thing about a GM product

I had a nice lightly modded c6z.  The power was hilarious, but the overall feel indeed a bit numb.  Felt big - is big.  I hoped it would be a little better given the low weight and mass centralization.  Helped me realized I'm definitely more of a small/nimble car guy.

The only GM you'd consider?  You're missing out on some very good things.

In reply to Appleseed :

I've owned most of them and I'd say that no, no I'm not. Every GM product I've ever had or driven has let me down.

In my defense, both ran simultaneously without check engine lights.

I'd own any C5+ corvette, but newer is better, there are big improvements in handling with each generation. The C7 is the first to have excellent handling from the factory, to the point that you have to do really serious mods to make any improvements. Even the autotragic convertible C4 Covered Corvette Wagon had quite decent handling IMO, it felt very much like a giant Miata.
