why does the daily drive have to be boring? I prefer cars with Seoul..... get it?

but didnt the discussion on prisons get shut down? is there a topic where frenchy is actuallly in reality and not his made up dreamland?

You must live someplace where the roads aren't filled with mind dead men and women 3-4 lanes wide puttering along.
I save my fun for the race track.

I dont drive on a road more than 2 lanes 5 days a week.

Approximately 80% of Americans live in Urban area's.
I'll grant you that there are some wonderful roads to drive on.    I've got some right around me.   But children and pets. Plus adults focused on their phones,   make even mild spirited driving  make that too risky.
Maybe that makes me a track snob? If so, I'll admit it freely.
I just love to find the absolute edge  limited only by the laws of physics rather than trying to judge how close to the edge can I get away  with on public roads.

who said you have to drive on the edge or even spiritedly to enjoy a car with Seoul? A couple weeks ago I spent an entire week, 4000 miles in what has been my dd for two years, enjoying new and old tracks having fun the entire time. Know when most of the fun happened?

Good for you.  I guess we are different.

While  I love my MG  I'm never alive as much as when I'm on the race track with friends.
It probably is a little over 75 mph  flat out.  With those skinny wire wheels even a 20 mph corner can be at its limit.   But that same speed on the race track will have this great big grin on my face. Honestly my face is sore for a few days after a weekend of racing.
Yes the velocity of the Jaguar makes the track faster but it's the dicing, racing with friends.  That spreads that grin.

Good News!!!!

The number 1 selling Car in America isn't the Toyota Corolla .  It's the Tesla model Y

even though it's almost twice as expensive.
( it also beats the Toyota 4 runner. ).

   More News.
Ford is teaming up with Tesla.
Now Ford EV's can use Tesla's superchargers.

Try again.  It's the Camry.  The Y isn't even considered a car, either, but a crossover.  The Corolla, however, does come in ahead of the 3.

Porsche is now talking about using a battery that will go 800 miles on a charge and recharge in 15 minutes.

The issue is that Frenchyd doesn't take the time to read/comprend his examples. He reports the headline and fills in the blanks himself to support his conclusion. The Porsche Example...

Headline- Porsche EVs Coming With 800-Mile Range And 15-Minute Recharge Time

The problem is it doesn't give a timeline- next year, 5, 10, 5o years? We've seen headlines like this for the last 50 years. If only there was more details in the article. Oh wait, there is. Be wary of words like "could," "would," and "might." To be fair, Frenchyd did say Porsche was "talking about" new battery tech, but since when does "talking about" have anything to do results? I could talk about literally anything, but it doesn't make is so.

Say goodbye to range and charge anxiety.

Porsche's battery technology engineers have predicted that in the medium-term, battery technology will improve to the point that 800-mile EVs that take under 15 minutes to charge could be a reality not too long from now.

As originally published in the Porsche Engineering Magazine, specialists from Porsche Engineering spoke about current and next-gen battery technologies and where EVs like the Taycan and Macan EV might be headed in future generations.

Porsche engineers explain why lithium is currently the gold standard for battery tech and its flaws, especially from a safety perspective. One interesting observation was anode optimization, specifically using silicon instead of graphite, as is the current norm. According to Dr. Falko Schappacher, Commercial and Technical Director of MEET Battery Research Center at the University of Munster, silicon anodes could increase battery capacity tenfold and enable charge times of under 15 minutes.

The problem is that silicon can expand by as much as 300% when it absorbs lithium, which could damage the electrodes and reduce battery life.

But the big breakthrough will come from solid-state batteries. By using a solid electrolyte matrix in place of a liquid electrolyte housed in a separator, not only would these batteries be lighter but more compact. And the lack of fluid would make them more stable and less of a fire hazard. "The plan for solid cells is that the classic separator will be completely replaced by a thin layer of solid electrolytes," explains Dr. Stefanie Edelberg, Specialist Engineer Battery Cell at Porsche Engineering. "The solid electrolyte is then both electrolyte and separator in one."

This technology would reportedly increase energy density by up to 50% and result in significantly quicker charging times.

Lithium-based solid-state batteries (SSB) are seen as "a serious alternative to lithium-ion batteries," according to Schappacher.

I'll also point out that charging the mythical 800 mile battery in 15 minutes would presebt a whole new set of challenges on the charging side.

Thanks for the backhanded compliment. My point was often times things I say get blown off only to be realized a long time later.  Maybe that doesn't say as much about me as you seem to think.  Maybe it implies something altogether different.

Just checking in on the dumpster fire, as I'm over 81K now with my EV which totally, 100% replaced an ICE vehicle.

Yup, still a dumpster fire.

Thank you, Boost crazy.   I'm glad you spelled that out.
There are several pending battery improvements in the works.  Tesla is adapting BYD's blade technology for use in the Model Y. Plus they are shipping some model Y's with stage 4  systems on them.  ( the dual motor, high performance versions). For use here in the States. But you have to be careful that you don't run the price up too high if you want the $7500+ $2500 tax credit.

So are you going to contribute anything of substance to the thread, or are you just here to complain? Or do you think your example of "an" EV replacing "an"ICE car somehow counts, even though it doesn't address any of the concerns of the original post? I'm pretty sure that exactly no one in 46 pages said that there is no place for EV's.

I'm pretty sure I've satisfactorily answered the question over and over again, but it's evidently way more fun to argue needlessly.

Yes, indisputably, largely speaking, EV's can replace ICE vehicles. I'm driving proof everyday.
