I had a 991 S.  Best thing I did was get the DSC V3 suspension controller.  The suspension settings in normal mode were way to harsh IMHO.  The DSC V3 allows the suspension controllers to use more of their adjustability so that normal was very nice on the street while still allowing much firmer settings for the track.  Transformed the car from something I didn't enjoy driving to something I loved.

My neighbor has a 987.1 with the Sport Exhaust and it's LOUD and drones hard.

FWIW that's a completely different engine. Not saying that it's not possible, but I wouldn't say that's an indicator that the .2 version is going to be bad. About as useful of a data point, the 981 sport exhaust is awesome, if I had the budget I'd add it to my car.

Such is the way with exhaust noises, so much comes down to individual ears and preferences.  I really wanted to love mine, and did for the first few weeks.  After a while it just wore me out.  For comparison, my current ND Miata has a race exhaust that's basically a resonated straight pipe and I absolutely love it.

Normal service (by my standards) appears to have resumed.

I'm out of town and my wife has been using the 997 as her Jeep is in the shop for not quite yet diagnosed suspension issue.

Apparently it's sitting in the garage playing possum with a suspected dead-ish battery. At least it's sitting in the garage, but given that it did that after regular use, I'm not sure that charging up the battery and hoping for the best is the right way to go about anything but exercise the AAA membership.

Oh well, I'm supposed to be home Saturday morning, although "fix the reliable German vehicle" wasn't on the plan for the weekend.

Not that much to report - after the last post, I replaced the battery with a Costco Interstate (yes, I know) and we made sure to keep it on a trickle charger. Hey, what's another Battery Tender between friends.

I finally got my act together last week and booked it in for an annual service. One of the issues with running car like this where I live is that most of the specialists that look after road cars are in and around DC, and at least a couple of hours drive each way. The company I picked did offer a loaner car after I explained the issue, which was fortunate.

Overall the car got a very clean bill of health, well, after we went through some of the catch up maintenance. Given that we expect to drive it for a long time, I want it maintained by the book and then some, and there was some "not cheap" work that we didn't have records for. Oh well, it's all caught up now for slightly more than the price of a somewhat ratty Miata. Ooof. Oh well, the last modern 911 I owned went into the shop with a slight tick and came out after a complete engine strip down, so this was a bargain .

One item the PO did apparently not spring for was an alignment - I mentioned to the service writer that I wanted the alignment checked as it felt off, and they confirmed that it was off. A new, somewhat sportier-than-factory alignment made a huge difference. Probably need to take it out on some of the WV roads that I just explore by motorcycle.
