For a double-whammy, how about a squatted truck that also rolls copious amounts of coal even when just driving normally?  Yes sports fans, there is one of those around here.

I watched all three.  Kinda annoying kid.  The fact that he thought the truck was annoying was not lost on me.  Here in Jacksonville we call that the Palatka rake.

I was wondering what the hell I was seeing on my roadtrip stop in Jacksonville when I saw a group of squatted trucks lol

Try sleeping in a HI-Express in Nashville when a group of takeyari roll in.  If you don't know what that is, just google it.  Wish I would've had my can of spray foam insulation when I rolled out the next morning and those clowns were still sleeping.

I was behind 2 different South Carolina vehicles today, going 5 under the limit on the highway in the left lane. Whats wrong with you, SC?

When I lived down in Sebring, I saw a ton of trucks that were lifted and stanced on 24X14" rims with low profile offroad tires, with the wheels pushed out as wide as possible.  They were often noticeably higher in the front as well, although not as much as some of the pictures I've seen on here.  Also in the Sebring area there was a 100% chance of these trucks rolling coal and/or having TRUMP in foot-tall letters on the back window.  Probably a 90% chance of them having all their windows down and blasting horrendous music loudly as well.  And they all drive like shiny happy people.  Super obnoxious.

I will never "get" the population of Americans who think being obnoxious and "Alt / Against the norm" is somehow moral and righteous. I've talked to them, and goddamn are they sad.

It's pretty stupid, and personally I don't think government should get involved too heavily until people end up dead- which they will because of this- for the simple reason that it's a fad and it'll go away soon. You can't see out of these damn things, they'll never be fast or handle, and it's only a matter of time in the nation of moral panic that some dipstick runs over a kid and the whole attitude changes as they become public enemy #1 for a season. Wash hands, new moral panic right around the corner when we're making cars burn oily blue smoke to "mock" EVs or something else stupid. Like Frank Zappa said, the US is a nation of fads.

I have to agree with you.  I've never really listened to Zappa before, but I've heard a million quotes from him and I seem to agree with all of them as well.  I should check this guy out.

No matter how high you lift, or how much you squat, or how big of rims you slap on your bro dozer... there's always another guy looking to enlarge his hootus even more. This truck will be able to climb over the speed bumps and driveway slopes better than everyone else in San Diego.

Photos like that remind me next time I'm bouncing the skid plates off my factory Chevy truck I need to snap a few photos.  The amount of mall crawler trucks and Jeeps in Dallas is mind blowing.  I think my kidneys still hurt from the last time I checked rural land in the Ouachita forest and mountains.

Thanks. Honestly, now that I've wrote that I've realized the same goes for coal-rolling; it's a big semi-political grandstand, performative public wankery against someone who's no longer in American politics and that's why I don't see that many anymore in the Midwest. The 'Carlina squat is probably just a variant of coal-rolling against Biden.

And they're the ones causing bans like this and the tuner/ECU controller legislation.  It is obnoxious, and sad.  Based on my personal experience, they drive like shiny happy people 100% of the time.

To those who see it as government overreach, my experience with these types of owners is their approach to everything is "berkeley you".  They don't then get to act shocked and surprised when the powers that be berkeley them back.  If they'd been willing to live and let live just a tiny bit, these bans wouldn't be happening.

Honestly until I made that (still questionable) parallel of protest with rolling coal this wasn't political. I am more than willing to "Even things out" and provide examples of "The other side", but to be frank this attitude is apart of American cultural Zeitgeist and trying to compare "X to Y" reeks of false equivalency.

Like so many trends automotive and other, this one is really just about disaffected youth. Through the eyes of an adult or a performance junkie it seems pretty dumb, but I think the idea here is that the people who do it feel they don't have a voice in the public forum. To them this is some kind of a statement of values, to objective people it's a statement on ignorant youth and selfishness.

Unlike some I have no issue with legislation directed at something specific like this.  I don't agree with the 'use existing laws to stop them'  That can work, but the issue is when you force people to comb through existing laws to find ways this is illegal, or have to add law 1 to law 2 to law 3, you encourage people to find reasons to go after anything all the time.  Specifically make somethings so egregiously dangerous (vision, control, impact etc.) illegal without having to troll through multiple different laws.  I think performance enthusiasts should be all over helping get dangerous E36 M3 like this off the road.  To 99% of the population there is no difference between an autocross and two dozen of these rolling down the road.  People see this and form the opinion 'modified cars are dangerous' and you've just lumped every WRX with rims and an exhaust, as well as every Mustang with an X pipe and big tires into the same mental image as these things.  Take action to stop the egregious dangerous things like Carolina squat, Coal rolling, 20deg negative camber with 185 section times on 14" wheels off the road before you end up like many parts of Europe or Australia where you need to jump through massive hurdles to fit any modification to your car.
