Hi all,

Looks like my alternator is bad. Charging light came on, and the battery shows like 10v when the car is on and 12ish when it's off. Question is, which alternator do I replace it with? I hear nightmare stories about remans so I'm trying to avoid those. I saw DB alternators on Amazon but their prices seem too good to be true. What do you all typically do for new alternators?

I take my alternators and starters to a local rebuild shop. Over the counter rebuilds (new alternators are not available) are untrustworthy. But first you should determine if the alternator is truly at fault and not connections or grounds.

All connections are tight so it's for sure the alternator. Let's say I don't have an alternator rebuilder available; what is everyone's go-to for good new ones? Am I stuck with going straight to Mazda?

Ive bought quite a few of the Amazon db electrical starters and alternators. Never been let down. Much better than the flaps stuff that costs more.

I have a DB starter on my 1991 diesel Ford.  Works great.  No problem here.
