I just put my new Blizzak WS-80's on a took a break in drive. They are relatively quiet and a good ride.
Handling is fine for driving within the speed limit.
The cost factor was a big thing as I considered the Generals. I am used to Blizzaks and being a newer design than the Artics plus some discounts I made my decision.
My old WS-60's served me well for 8/9 winters.
OH, I have Generals for my warm weather driving.

I also got the General Arctic for my ride this winter. I never used snow tires in my life, but my normal wheels have summer only tires and thats a no no for Clevelands crazy weather. So i bought a second set of wheels and Monday or Tuesday my General tires wil get put on.
Looking forwards to trying them out.
Probably an exciting weekend to be driving on summer tires over there in the crosshairs of the lake effect snow machine!
If you already have the tires and just waiting to get into a tire shop, try shooting Patgizz a PM - he might be able to get them done sooner!

I'm an Alitmax Arctic fan boy. We(family) ran studded Kelly Wintermark Magnagrips on at least 7 cars over about 15 years. After those had been discontinued a combination of price and being highly recommended here pushed me over to the Generals. I just ordered a new set for the SWMBO's car.

I've had both. Go with the Generals if you get more snow, or the Blizzaks if you just get ice.
Or...Generals if you're broke and Blizzaks if you're a 1%'er.
If I became a 1%er I'd only see snow on tv when the news showed peasants crashing about.
I also just put a new set of Altimax Arctics on the wife's Fit. I've used Blizzaks in the past but found them to be much worse after a couple seasons. Generally I worry much more about snow than ice around here as they salt the heck out of the roads.

We just got snow, and I went and played. It still amazes me how good the Altimax Arctics are.
Set of Altimax Arctics from Tire Rack should be on my doorstep in two days. The Accord Sport is just not good in snow with the OEM tires. Not good at all.
I too like doing business with companies that support stuff that I like.
Hey General Tire guys/gals, you listening?
Lots of fans here.
Thanks for a good product!
Didn't have to wait long to try out the new Arctics. 10 inches of wet heavy snow fell Sunday throughout the day. We decided to take the kids and dog to the in-laws for dinner about an hour away on country roads using the Honda Fit. Saw three accidents along the way.
Without snow tires we would be stuck inside at home. With the Generals, no problem!!!
Even took my father-in-law out to pick up dinner. "Hey this little Japanese turd isn't bad in snow!" High praise from that guy.
Just drove 70 miles in the dark this AM on icy/snow packed roads w/Arctic shod Tacoma. 4x4 was not required to get under way at intersections and traction while driving was good.
Thanks for the kind words to General, guys. We did forward this thread to them shortly after it was started. Threads like this—or telling a seller you get their stuff because they support our world/one of our events/the magazine—really does help our world spin. Thank you!
Finally bolted mine on, this will be the 4th winter on this set and they still pass my drive around the front yard in snow deeper than my ground clearance test just fine.
Brown Santa has delivered. When the next snow hits--on Friday--I'll give a review of my new Generals!
New 225/45-17 Arctics went on the E92 this morning. Roads are clear today but I'll have plenty of time to evaluate them on the drive in to midnight shift and the morning return. Road crews are hit n miss around here at night, major reason for buying these tires.
Let the Michelin run flats go even though there were lotta miles left on 'em... and that means new summer wheel/ tire package in the spring.
Yeah, like Ed said, thanks for returning the favor. Plus it sounds like you guys are enjoying the Generals.
I'm taking mine ice racing!
Second everyone here- except I didn't find them loud. One winter in DC and I was shocked in the best way possible for how they changed the '15 GTI in the snow.
I've been using studded Cooper Weathermasters on the e39, but needing a new set of tires came across these today. Not disappointed that the GRM hive is already on top of it!
we use them for winter rally. they have mushy sidewalls, but great grip
unfortunately, sometimes there's no snow. And they reaallly don't like big jagged rocks
This will be my 5th? Winter with General Altimax Arctics. I can never go back. My DD tire is a great allseason tire from the same company (Continental DWS). I drove through the first unexpected snowfall this winter with the DWS equipped and deeply regretted not having my Generals ready. The stopping distance alone was enough for me to get my snows on ASAP.
