You can actually HEAR the difference in power. Pretty cool but $700 bucks is not exactly grassroot-y.

Seven hundred fish in the dish is real money, true. But man is it nice when stuff works the way it's supposed to. At some point I'd rather pay real money for real results than save a buck and wonder if I could have done better.
And what really helps this little guy out is the additional functionality you get. It's not only a performance flasher, but a code reader, comprehensive gauge package, performance timer and anti-theft device. I think it also has a fax, waffle iron and life raft, but I haven't read the entire instructions yet.
We recently got our hands on one of Cobb Tuning's AccessPort tuning devices for our 'Speed3. This little gem will get a detailed write-up in an upcoming issue, but in the meantime, here's a video detailing our first look at the device. Long story short: In just a few minutes, we came away impressed.
Amazing. Not only did it upgrade your software in just a few minutes, but it changed your t-shirt as well. Does that feature cost more? ;)
For all that you get, $700 seems like a pretty decent deal. Now, if only I had $700 I could plunk down on one of those right now...
JG, I enjoyed your video keep em comming. I am off to check cobb's site to see if they make the accessport for the mazdaspeed6.
The Accessport is great, i've had one since they were released back in May. keep watching the Cobb site for the upcoming release of the v1.03 maps. Cobb is currently developing the accessport for the mazdaspeed6, iirc.
Cobb's AccessPort is pretty slick, but that's some serious coin to lay down IMO. The older ones offer less content and go for a lot less money in the used market, I've considered getting one for the Saabaru since I have no need for all the gee whiz extras like anti-theft device and waffle iron. Perhaps that's worth mentioning in your upcoming article for those more "grassroots" minded who still want a reliable aftermarket plug-and-chug tuner with readily available tunes for a variety of engine configurations AND don't want to shell out a handful of Benjamins. If you just want the power and tunes from Cobb, there are a lot cheaper ways of going about it than buying one of their new units. I don't know if this applies for the Speed3, but for the Subies the Cobb has been around for a long while.
the newer cars being developed only work with the AP v.2 unfortunately. if someone were to buy a little bit older Subaru, they could probably pick up a used V.1 AP Also, the Accessport has been released for the Mazdaspeed6 this week.
Yeah, I think that must have happened during the upload. Or there's some sort of temporal anomaly near the front of my house. I'll get with Baxter and get a new copy to him sometime soonmaly near the front of my house. I'll get with Baxter and get a new copy to him sometime soon.
JG, You're a funny guy! Not only was informed but I was entertained as well! I bought an MS3 from the GRM recommendation in 2007. Now I'm fighting the urge to call up Cobb's webpage. Curse you GRM! My wallet bleeds for your amusement.
Mazda installed my cold air intake and detuned it, top end dropped from 152 to 145. Couldn't find a tuner in Las Vegas, I'm 120 miles away and every place was like a clique. Everybody is AWD for the track which I can understand, but I was stuck. $700 is a lot for me, but cheap for a full remap. 30 minutes and the turbo is engaged in 1st and 2nd gear and instead of the power falling off at 5300 RPM it was howling at 6400. Still testing the limits, trying to find if colder plugs are needed. Altitude here 3300 feet.
