OK, this might seem a little weird, but I am taking down a 32x40' pole barn with three walls and an open front. It was built to code in 2001 and is in very good shape. It is in the Daytona Beach Florida area. the walls are 12'6" tall.

It would take some work to dismantle it and the trusses are 32' long. I am open to offers and $0 is an acceptable offer. I am more interested in a smooth, seamless transaction than I am big money.

And yes, I am kind of saying if you take it down quickly and cleanly, you can have it. My new 40x60' building with a separate lean to to store trailers is going up soon and I hate to see this go to the dump when someone could use it.

You can post here or PM me.

I don't have room on my property, but I'm sending this to a friend who also lives here in deland.

If my friend declines, then I will (if that's OK with you) post it on the central Florida SCCA and autocross buddies Facebook pages.

Is that the type of pole barn I'm used to from the North East where the poles are buried in the ground and the ground is an integral part of the structure?  If so you might want to specify your expectations as to how they're to be removed.

I made the same offer on my old garage and this guy came and took it in one shot. I do not have pics of the aftermath when it fell off his trailer 8 miles up the road.

Yes, the poles are in the ground and the concrete was poured after the building was built.

If you can pick the slab up in one piece, ramp truck will carry it.

That would hold a lot of parrots and possibly a few geese.

Could you hold it for a month? Not for me specifically, but I feel that this should be a prize at the challenge.

Would there be a special excemption that would let you contruct ground up body and frame so long as all structural members and body skins were cut from the pole barn?

We actually went for a drive to see it at its new place and came across them picking the pieces off the road. I turned around and drove away whistling and acting nonchalant.

Oh don't think I haven't seriously considered it. I need to do some mods and efficiency increases to my current shop before I start adding places to hide my bad decisions, though.

Also, you might find this hard to believe, but we can't put the parrots in any wood structure or they'd rip it to shreds in hours. I bet three 6oz. cockatoos could sever any one of those 8x8 supports inside a day.

All of their enclosures are aluminum and steel, and their favorite chew toys are just cut up pieces of untreated pine 1x2. An 8" long piece of 1x2 can be reduced to toothpicks in about 10 minutes by a single bird.

Honestly I have no idea how any wooden structure in Australia or Indonesia is still standing.
