Oh I don't expect my PSA to run like my little pistol, but it just feels clunky and cheap. That's because it is. Still, $300 would spruce it up a good bit and still be well under the cost of my 556.

Shot a SOCOM 16. Yes I want one. No real reason except dam is it fun to shoot. I want one in all wood not the plastic standard one. Iron sites at 100 yards was child's play. Bit of a kick. My shoulder was a bit sore after 15 rounds. It was interesting in that I shot a M1A with a long barrel a coupe days earlier and it was much softer. Both were in 308.
7.62X54R is 60 cents per round. I guess some of the Russians are still using it.
I'm stuck deciding on a Springfield Loaded LW full size or a Kimber Ultra Carry II right now. The Kimber has the Crimson trace grips and the Loaded LW has 10 mags and 2 holsters. Both in .45.
Fro what I can find, the Kimber is 25 ounces empty and the Springer is 34. My ATI Titan compact is the weight of the springer with 2" less barrel and 10 ounces heavier than hte Kimber. All are lighter than my full size all steal Springer Loaded (40 ounces empty).
Decisions decisions...

None of those for sale locally. Both options I listed are within 30-45 minutes from me.
Also been considering dipping my toes into the Sig/9mm pool. I have an itch for a sig 226/227/228/229/2022 (yes, I know the 227 is .45 and I want one of those too).
I'm a big fan of 'Commander' sized 1911s... They just seem to carry and clear leather a little better than the full size, and I was never a fan of the short grip 1911s.
Always wanted an MP5 variant/clone. We used them at work years ago before ARs took over, and they were always fun to shoot. So, I picked up an MKE AP5P. Only fired ~100 rounds so far, but runs perfect, and super quiet with 147s through the can. Probably going to SBR this one.

Man... so glad that all the things I want in the classies are literally 3 hours each way away from me. Currently there's a browning hipower for $650, custom colt/caspian 1911 stainless for $650, an xds.45 for $350, 10.5" ar for $550.
the bad news is I ran across a 3rd gen smith 4516. The want is strong and at $450 I might cave. Finding mags for it though looks to be a bit challenging.

A quick search of eBay showed a variety of 4516 mags available. Not cheap, though.
I was never a huge fan of the big S&W 3rd gen .45s, but they are very well built and known for solid accuracy. I've shot a few of the 745s and they were very accurate.
I was watching something on YT about Black Friday sale prices. Some of the 22 long rifle almost seemed reasonable.

What would you get? I am leaning M1A but a real M14 you just don't see every day.
I was actually thinking of offering $4,500 for all three with the intent of selling two but I know me to well and I would end up keeping all of them.

I'm not an expert on the M1A market, but there is a huge variety in quality and value. I would definitely do some research on the specific guns you're looking at before dropping the $$$$.
A 'real' M14 would be select fire, and I'm pretty sure a registered and transferrable M14 would be ~ 10x $1700. There are some commercial guns marked M14, like the Armscorp, but I would think they would be valued less than the equivalent Springfield.
There are also a wide variety of M1As out there. $1700 is about what a new Springfield M1A Loaded runs... A National Match rifle built by a 'known' gunsmith could easily bring double that. A Norinco probably a lot less.
M1 Garands will also vary greatly in value due to the many variations. $1700 is on the very high end for a good condition shooter, but some of the more scarce variants can bring quite a bit more. Still kicking myself for not buying a Garand in the mid-80s when the Korean lend/lease guns were coming back to the US and selling for $299...

Rural Kings prices were good. Picked up 3 boxes of 230gr jhp for $54.
Well I bought myself a pair of bday gifts. The 4516 I pulled the trigger on at $450. Seller offer it and the 4586 he also had for sale for $800 for both. So I'll be the owner of a pair of 3rd gen smiths. I know I'll be able to get my money back out of them if I don't like/want or trade dad for my old 24/7 Taurus for one.

Finally zeroed the Hawke scope on my Benjamin Cayden and did preliminary ammo testing with NSA slug packs (different weights and diameters) @ 25 yards to figure out what it likes. Got too dark to really test it out at 40 yards, will have to do that another day. These were the 5-shot groups @ 25 yards:
Looks like .2175 is the diameter the barrel likes. Need to also test the slugs with the Diana M48 as well.
Have made up my mind to get a full sized 10mm pistol again... have already ordered a case of ammo, a holster, and a Trijicon RMR sight for it (absolutely blazing deal on Optics Planet...). Just waiting for several auctions to end, but should have a barely used/broken in one 'won' tomorrow. 10mms had in the past were a Glock 20C and Tanfoglio/EAA Witness Match - this will be a different but similar styled one.
Got them home and cleaned up. Hopefully get some time to run theee this weekend.
So I have been procrastinating a little about cleaning my Canik Meta. I also should clean my Sporter. Both have between 500 and 1000 rounds through them since I last cleaned them
My standard cleaning schedule is I clean a new to me or factory new firearm when I get it home. If it is factor new I will clean and inspect after the first range trip. Usually 100-200 rounds and then it goes on my standard 500-1000 rounds schedule
The actual schedule for a particular firearm kind of depends on how things feel or operate. For instance my Canik likes cleaning around 500-600. Let it go longer and I get reliability issues and the groups start to open up. The other end of things are all my H&K stuff and my IWI X95. They just run and run. I usually clean them between 800-1000 rounds but I have let some of them go closer to 1200 rounds. Never had a issue and I never see any change in performance after cleaning.
What do you all do? How often do people clean things and why?

Carry guns get cleaned after shooting. Most others get cleaned if they're not going back to the range in a week or so. .22s get cleaned when I get around to it.
