We bought a SubZero counter depth fridge for $400 a few years back. A high end home in Greenwich was being sold, and the fridge was ancient at the time. We had to replace some parts right away ($1300 or so), but it's been solid for the past 10 years, and gave us the counter depth we needed. 
 

We also picked up a fancy range for $400 from the same house. Two of the best purchases we've made.

The hack isn't finding the unloved luxury appliances, the hack is knowing how to fix them.
