And then there are songs that you just can't choose a better version, like this one:

aLIEz (Japanese & Piano version)

Or

Anything that Joan Jett covered > original. Period.

And, a significant of the Runaways/Blackhearts songs were covers. Once they cover it, it's theirs.

Not that ZZ Top's version of La Grange is shabby, but this one by Graffix 420 just makes me giggle--

However, I cannot explain why it ends with "Vote Quimby!"

I like Redbird's version of "You Are the Everything" better than the R.E.M. version.

The Sound of Silence, original a'cappella arrangement and recording by Gentlemen of the College (William and Mary, Mens' jazz choir). The composer is a music student. The harmony tuning and relative intonation is flawless. The arrangement uses frequent dissonance tension and resolution, as well a form of bell-toning I've never heard used before: he builds bell-tones from the bottom up within the text rather than on a single vowel, which creates a wonderfully eerie sound effect. Please give a listen:

Agreed, gave me shivers.

mtn wrote: Paul Simon, and Simon and Garfunkel, are 2 of my very favorite acts; with the former being among my very favorite songwriters. I think Sounds of Silence is one of the better songs I've ever heard; their rendition is amazing. I hate heavy metal. Disturbed covered Sounds of Silence, and it is incredible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk7RVw3I8eg
