Spent the weekend trying to convince one of my computers to play nice with a new 4060 GPU. No luck but I think I know the issue. A new riser cable has been ordered.

Cleaning 8 years of filth from the family mini van. This has been a job and a half. Pressure washed the seats and the results are unbelievable.

I just started on a new project so I've been taking advantage of the local junkyards running 40 percent off sale this weekend.

Cleaning. Lots and lots of cleaning. Never finished the cleanup in the basement from last year's bathroom remodel, and we're planning on having the food inside next weekend for the party.

Turns out I never emptied my coolers last year either. Year old sunny d is scary.

So LRP dedicated the start/finish tower to Skip Barber this weekend. He said a few words (well, more than a few because Skip is never at a loss for words) to the crowd prior to the start of the Trans-Am race. (Sam Posey designed the new tower, but unfortunately Sam is ill, and can't personally say a few words.)

How tall is Boris? Every shot I've seen with a race fan (including Wally's avatar) has him slouching.

edit: Google says 6-0

Sitting in the ER at the moment. My son sprained or broke his ankle on a set of steps.

In reply to Datsun240ZGuy :

Me too.

I won't mention the results just in case I'd be spoiling it for someone but the last person that I wanted to win won so rats.  However, someone I generally think of as being cocky gave the winner a good fight so we're on speaking terms again cheeky.  Also, someone I think is capable and probably was about to not be given another chance delivered compelling proof that he deserves to be in a car so I'm very , very happy for him.

I got invited to the house of a multimillionaire for a Memorial Day pool party.

A bit surreal

The GF and I decided to explore a little bit of the local area so we are staying in Roswell this weekend. There is a lot of history here besides the UFO/alien stuff. But, of course, I've already bought some kitchy alien swag.

^Hope you went a bit west to Lincoln, amazing preservation of the town and Billy the Kid history there.  Also hope you checked out the Goddard workshop at the Roswell art museum.

Oof. Hope he heals up quick. On tbis day two years ago, we were at the ER with Queso Kid 1 with a very broken collarbone. Man that's a memory I'd be happy to forget.

If a boat is a hole in the water you throw money into... then this is above ground hole you throw money into.   Mrs Frog wanted a pool.   After she found one for free I was dragged kicking and screaming into a project.

5 days later, and now learning college chemistry i forgot 50 years ago... she has a pool.

Oh yes;  next comes decks, pool tools, walkways, yadda, yadda, yadda.

We had a pool for 20 years, seemed like every year it would turn green at least once, using stuff bought at the pool store.  About 17 years in, I found troublefreepool.com.  A good test kit and chemicals (bleach, baking soda, dry acid etc.) bought for relatively cheap, and it was nice and clear all season long.  The key is not too much stabilizer.  You need some to keep the chlorine from just vanishing, but all the solid chlorine products have stabilizer in them and you quickly build up too much.  When I started following the new method, I had to drain half the water out of the pool to get rid of the excess stabilizer.

Short-notice trip out to western Maryland to visit DD#2 and her BF in their new place. Got rid of some excess furniture in the bargain.

Tried duckpin bowling for the first time and I stunk at it but it was fun. I did manage 1 strike in our second game.

Unfortunately we didn't really explore outside of the city. And I really wanted to see the Goddard and Roswell Museum but they were both closed today :(. Poor planning on our part since it is Memorial Day. But Roswell is a cool place and we both agreed that we would definitely be back.

The remaining leisure activities I can afford are videogames, TV, and bike rides as long as watch the travel costs if I'm not riding from home. So I rode the bike on the weekend.

I got a new to me riding mower. Went Husqvarna. I have had good luck with there stuff over the last 40. My old sears unit died about a month ago for good.  Nursed it through last year but it finally had its last mow this spring.

The back yard was over a foot tall!!!   Went from a 18hp/38" to 23hp/48". This one has a locking dif that I need to get up some steep grades.  Looked a zero turn units but they are so expensive. I need to get the mulching block off plate this unit.  This weekend was all about taming the jungle my yard had become.

Picking it up Saturday.  The unit was used but has very low hours.  I had ordered a new one but it was delayed in shipping with no eta. This unit was recommended to me by the place sells them new. They sold it originally and it has been serviced by them. It was new in the fall of 2022. Used for half a season then the owner went to a bigger zero turn unit had this serviced and it sat. They serviced it again this spring with the owner wanting to sell it. I happened to be in the right place at the right time. As the guy was picking up his zero turn from its spring service.

Me picking it up.
