There's so much great rock and roll coming out of Greece these last few years - stoner, postrock, neopsychedelic:

Gypsy Kings - Bamboleo

So, son Jason took DIL Andrea to a Gypsy Kings concert tonight in MA for her birthday.  We're babysitting the granddaughters tonight. Texting after the concert, he  told us they played this song, so we're listening now. Great Gypsy Kings song.

I just found Left At London a few weeks ago. Her entire catalog is total earworm stuff. Sometimes it sounds a little Hooverphonic or Portishead, sometimes it's more pop or folk than that, but I haven't found anything I don't like.

I'm sharing Blacknwhite because it's one of my faves, and because there's a lyric video.

Benny Goodman - Sing, Sing, Sing

I grew up in the fifties and sixties and I listened to my father's thirties and forties 78 rpm albums. One was Benny Goodman. He told me that Sing, Sing, Sing was an iconic performance at Carniege Hall in 1939. (Look it up. It was). This isn't that recording from Carnegie Hall, but it's great nonetheless. Great band. I loved Benny's clarinet and especially Gene Krupa's driving percussion.

TIL that Fear Factory came out with a new album last year.

The last time I was aware of that they had a new album was, oh, close to 20 years ago.  In a car with some friends, thing came on the radio and I said "this sounds a lot like a Fear Factory song but I don't recognize it."

Anyway it is a good formula, if you like hammering powerful industrial metal kind of stuff.  I mentally was thinking "if you can hear this, you are the resistance" during the opening monologue/voiceover thing.  Then he SAID it.  And I realized that they have a new album.

I usually have something like this in the background when I'm working. No words, just rhythm and melody. The Tube of Yous has a bunch of them in almost every genre to choose from.

Today it's this one.

I prefer his instrumental work, but all of his music is pretty solid.

Robert Earl Keen - Ride

Great lyrics. A few weeks ago Annie and I spent a weekend in NYC. Great fun. For a weekend. Sunday night we got on the Northeast Regional Amtrak bound for rural Kingston Station, RI. These lyrics are exactly how we felt after a few days in the Big Apple.

Frederic Chopin's music. Interesting to see the keyboard hand movements in this video. Regardless, I'm a Chopin fan and love the music. He was a handsome devil . wink

Can't believe this album is almost 25 years old.  Great stuff, some of the best pop music ever written:
