Antique Axle Knockers

Hi,
I have a small collection of antique axle knockers and am wondering who might want them. Any advice on where I can donate them, or sell for a nominal amount, to someone who would value them?

But seriously, I have no idea what we're referring to here.

I gave up and looked on the interwebs and the only thing I found was on the bay of E.  I still have no idea. 

Those things on old British cars, two pieces of spring material with a round disc type joint in the middle?  Think vintage stuff, but I don't know what they're called.

I would call it a shin biter.
