Other painting tips from my short stint working in a body shop...

Hang these small parts from a hook to paint.

Sprays edges first, flat/bottom second, flat/top last, as applicable.  This makes over spray in the least visible areas.

Degrease.   Then use rubber gloves on both hands to handle part and spray.  Fingers are oily.

Remove masking tape immediately.  Leave a tab when you apply to facilitate removal.  This gives a blended edge at the tape line, instead of a ledge.
