2021 BMW M440i Convertible new car reviews

Think of this one as the higher-spec 4 Series that’s not an M4. So, for those who think that an E46-chassis BMW is still fairly new, call this a modern take on the 330i–except it offers a lot more power.

Take everything that we said about the M440i Coupe–the rock-solid drivetrain, the stable chassis, the beefy brakes–and add in a power-operated convertible top.

Even with the cut roof, the chassis doesn’t give up much rigidity, the noise doesn’t go up and, really, the looks don’t change that much.

Like convertibles? Have the extra scratch? This could be your match. No, it’s not a Miata replacement. Think of it as a convertible E46 M3 fitted with a two-pedal setup.

It’s really one of those cars that can cover a lot of ground. It can serve as an interstate tourer, weekend toy or even a daily commuter.
