Can this ethanol-fed BMW E36 M3 corn its way to victory? | #FastFriday

Did you know that not only can people eat corn, but cars can, too? Don’t believe us? Just look at the 1995 BMW M3 Todd Inman is entering in the 2023 Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge Presented by Grassroots Motorsports.

Normally found competing in NASA TT4 and TT5, the E36’s greatest strength is, according to Todd, its lightweight and nimble chassis, capable of outrunning much more powerful cars in the corners.

In addition to a healthy diet of ethanol fuel, the M3’s S52 inline-six engine is upgraded with an aFe intake, SST racing exhaust, solid mounts for the engine and transmission, baffled oil pan, ARP studs, lightweight flywheel and more.

Other notable go-fast components fitted to the car include Eibach springs, Cryo M3 brake rotors, custom Quaife differential, Lexan side and rear windows, BimmerWorld carbon fiber wing and SSR wheels fitted with sticky Continental tires.

What is the Ultimate Track Car Challenge? It’s our annual no-holds-barred track competition that simply seeks the fastest machines on four wheels. The rules are brief: Car and driver must pass a safety inspection. Period.
