Is retirement all that it’s cracked up to be? Four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon plans to put his retirement on pause to compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup North America race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway–during the second-annual Porsche Sports Car Together Fest–September 2-4.

Driving the No. 24 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in an Invitational class, Gordon will reunite with former crew chief Ray Evernham, the first the two have worked together since 1999.

I’m looking forward to getting back in a race car and competing against a talented field of teams and drivers,” said Gordon, “It’s always special when I get a chance to compete at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Ray and I have always talked about running another race together, and we felt like Indy was the perfect place. It’ll be a fun way to spend the holiday weekend and make some new memories.”

Opening practice for the two 40-minute Carrera Cup races will happen on Friday, followed by qualifying and race 1 on Saturday and race 2 on Sunday.
