The Model 3 Challenge presented by Mountain Pass Performance will offer wheel-to-wheel racing among equalized Tesla Model 3 cars in 2023. The series will hold its races in conjunction with select Gridlife events.

The series will use “power-limited” Model 3s as to allow sprint races without any reduction in power, and data loggers will be used to ensure that the cars remain on an equal playing field.

We’ll have an in-depth feature on how to prepare a Tesla Model 3 for the track in the very near future.

WTW racing that does not require a cage? Intriguing...

We reached out to the organizers of the series to verify that. Indeed, no cage is required.

Furthermore, a clarification on "wheel to wheel" racing:

"Our series will actually not be totally "wheel to wheel", but rather a hybrid of an HPDE & Time Attack with a Wheel-To-Wheel feel.

All passes will require a point-by and can only be conducted on straights within specific zones, and competitors must maintain a minimum of 1-car length between vehicles. However, competitors will be timed, and every lap counts."
