Don’t egg Travis Pastrana on. He’ll do it.

That’s why Pastrana will be racing dirt modifieds during the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Florida this week. The following week, he’ll attempt to make the Daytona 500.

Pastrana, who's sponsored by Black Rifle Company, originally intended to bring a group of veterans to hang out at Volusia with Steve Arpin. Arpin, a former rallycross racer with NASCAR experience, now leads Longhorn Chassis, a company that builds modifieds and races them, too.

Matt Crafton, a three-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champ who moonlights as a dirt modified racer, found out about Pastrana’s plan.

I told Crafton and he goes, ‘Ah, too much of a sissy to drive?’” said Pastrana in a DIRTcar press release. “I called Arpin, and said, ‘So, Longhorn, I heard you guys have vehicles that can kick the crap out of Crafton’s vehicle.’ [Arpin] said, ‘Yeah, if you don’t suck, you can beat him.’ I said, ‘Alright, I’m in.’”

Pastrana has a dollar bet with Crafton on who will have the better finish. The two will race six features this week, from tonight, Monday, February 6, through Saturday, February 10, at Volusia.

After that, catch Travis Pastrana at Daytona, as he attempts to make the 500.
