The upper strut mount of a stock E30 BMW chassis has no adjustment. Thankfully, clever companies like Ground Control have figured out how to make adjustable camber plates to replace the stock upper strut mounts.

The problem with most camber plates is that, while they give you the camber and caster adjustment you need for track events, they rattle and clunk way too much for street driving. And we need something that won’t make us want to tear our hair out while driving.

Ground Control has solved this problem with their Sport camber plate line. These camber plates feature German-made, waterproof, axial load bearings with urethane center mounts that truly eliminate the rattling and clunking of traditional camber plates.

Adjustment range on these camber plates is 23.5mm (16mm negative to 7.5mm positive). To put this into layman’s terms, with these camber plates, you can easily dial in a degree or two of negative camber at the front of your E30. Caster correction is also an essential part of what these plates offer.

The camber plates are marked so you can run a degree of negative camber on the street, get to a track day or autocross and dial in 2-3 degrees of negative camber, and then easily reset the camber plates for street driving when you are done with your event. We like simple, well-thought out bits of kit. These camber plates are well made, look beautiful, fit perfectly and list for $419.

You're going to want to reset the toe in front when you change the camber.

You'll need to log in to post.
