Well, at least some of the cars at Ace are 6' apart.........I need to get there some time, looks very cool. Love the MIata, looks like good low budget fun. It's too bad I just don't fit in one without major surgery ( the car, not me ).
Now that our Miata is running and looking good, we’ve been using it: autocrossing with our local Martin Sports Car Club and Central Florida SCCA plus a few social outings with the Orlando Roadsters.
One big question: What class for autocross?
When we built the car 20-plus years ago, we just wanted to create a cool street car while showing what the Miata aftermarket offered. We didn’t really build it for an autocross class.
Today, the car comes close to landing in Street Touring R thanks to our Kaaz limited-slip diff. Even though we’re giving up displacement to the rest of the class, technically some of our engine mods aren’t legal–specifically the head work and cam gears.
The open nature of the SCCA's CAM and Xtreme Street classes appeal to us, and that’s where we run our Corvette and Toyota MR2 projects. So why not the Miata?
The Miata lands in Xtreme Street B: engine swaps and some aero allowed, 200tw tires required, street-legal is a must, and a minimum weight of 2150 pounds if running a rear-drive layout. Currently this is a supplemental class meaning it won’t be offered at Solo Nats.
Sold.

We have the right chassis, tires and mindset for the class–we just might be giving up some power as, at least here, swapped and turbo Miatas are the hot ticket.
The big thing: We’re having fun.
We’ve also been enjoying some socializing–while keeping distant, of course–with Orlando Roadsters. The group can be found at Ace Café Orlando on last Monday evening of the month. Just show up, hang out and take it all in.

And I think that's the big thing--at least for me: It's fun.
I love that my xsb miata is the lead in for the video for your xsb miata.
Its a super fun class.

I sure hope the the Extreme Street classes get a permanent spot. I really like that you can build a street car the way you want and still have a class to fit into without being forced int one of the full on over the top race car classes. I give the SCCA a big thumbs up on this addition.
