Tires—as with virtually all forms of motorsports—are an important part of being competitive in the 24 Hours of LeMons. Rules state that you can’t venture below a 190 treadwear rating and the tire has to be DOT-approved. And that’s about it.
After racing in the 24 Hours of Lemons for years, we’ve settled on a proven wheel/tire combo: the Bridgestone Potenza RE-71R wrapped around 15x7-inch Konig Dial-Ins.
Thankfully, the 24 Hours of LeMons is not so competitive that you have to run a new set of tires every weekend—or every couple weekends. In fact, we’ve run the same set of tires for two years in a row. After our first LeMons Miata met its demise, we were pleased to find that none of the wheels or tires had been harmed and simply bolted them up to the new car.

Are you heat cycling your tires before you go race on them? Killing them with too much/not enough camber, toe out of whack? We get 36 hours out of a set of Rival's (non-S).
