Chris Harvey has been busy getting seat time in the MX-5, running a couple of local autocross events in late April. Both took place under cool temps on relatively tight courses with sealed pavement—not ideal for traction or testing the limits.
So, this weekend Chris made the 10-hour trek to Lincoln, Nebraska, for a Tire Rack SCCA ProSolo event. The same site was used for the year-end ProSolo Finale and National Championship events, making this a great advanced look at how the car will perform at the big dance.
It was a battle royal, with Brandon Davis in his lightweight 1999 Miata challenging Chris all weekend. It came down to final runs on each side of the course Sunday morning, with Chris pulling out the inaugural win for Project STR. Chris learned a lot about the car and the direction we need to go as the project develops throughout the summer.
