Valet: 1

Civic: 0

Perhaps we should have parked the car ourselves.

During a recent stay in St. Pete, Florida, for the British Motor Trade Association’s annual conference, the valet at the Hotel Indigo returned our  2019 Honda Civic Si with a chunk missing from the left-front tire. This hotel only offers valet parking.

Of course, we noticed this issue at our first stop after leaving the property, so the hotel’s valet company isn’t accepting any blame–even though we happened to photograph the car the night before retaking possession of the car.

Lesson learned: Walk around the car before leaving the valet stand. In fact, maybe walk around it twice.

Damage report: one Falken Azenis and a wheel. The sidewall damage doesn’t go too deep, yet on the other hand, how do we know for sure? Replacement Falken Azenis RT615K+ tire ordered.

Did they hurt the wheel as well? The damage looked only cosmetic but, since this car does represent us, we replaced the wheel as well and ordered a replacement TRMotorSports C2 from Tire Rack.

Tires were rotated and yes, a lesson learned.

Small sidebar: Our single, unmounted wheel from the Tire Rack came double-boxed and wearing a plastic protector ring plus a little hat.
