I bought the little red Miata for $1900 with 79k on the clock. Great deal right? Well it leaked oil through every seal and was so rusty, it didn’t even have a floor. It was just carpet. I sourced a rust free 1993 tub from a Spec Miata friend and set to work. This was my first Miata build and coming from the Porsche 944 world, I was amazed at the simplicity of, well, everything. It’s actually half a 1993 and half a 1990, as well as pieces from many other years of Miata. There is even a little bit of Porsche thrown in there. I had to make a new wiring harness from scratch after mine melted, yes melted, due to a short. The drivetrain is stock from a 1990. It’s been my daily driver for a couple years since completion and may soon get a new BIGGER heart.
