Well, the poor little Mini fell victim to an ignition problem at a track day…in 2009. With a lot of other projects to work on and a lack of knowledge about the modifications in the ignition system from the previous owner, it ended up sitting for a while.
I finally got around to working on it this past weekend, and an hour of testing revealed the cracked connection, followed by the roar of a happy 1293 engine. Unfortunately, it was also accompanied by the rattle of what I suspect is a bad idler gear bearing. Sigh. So it’s going to come apart again shortly. But it was fun for those brief moments in the sun as it emerged, blinking, into the light.
