The rear engine was using a stock scirocco plastic intake box, this worked out very poorly since the intake pointed directly at the toasty hot mufflers.
I scavanged a steel airbox from an early 80’s 7 series bmw, the advantages of the steel box were that I could modify it with my trusty mig welder and it used a larger filter than the stock box.
Lots of cutting, cursing and fiddling left me with a decent looking setup and an intake tube pointed forward.
