Inspecting any new-to-you car is an important step in the car-buying process, but do you even know what you are looking for?

Follow along as we inspect a C2 Chevrolet Corvette we bought sight unseen to determine what we have–and what we should do with our latest acquisition.

This should be interesting.

Fix what neeeds to be fixed while preserving and maintaining the car, but not restoring the car.   The car is visually very nice.  This should be fun.

Meanwhile, just outside the fence protecting the GRM compound from the seething masses, a chant is heard:

As a Ford guy, I hate how much I like old Corvettes!

Your is in worse cosmetic shape then mine but is definitely more original then mine by a long shot.

Not that my opinion should count but a proper 60/70's street build would be cool. Hurst shifter, hooker headers, upgraded stiffer shocks and springs on the factory mounting points, early quarter race/street cam. Lighten the flywheel and maybe change the rear gearing a bit to make it more fun depending on your options. I would polish and linseed oil the paint if required. But as it sits just replacing all the bushings with new aftermarket units would make a world of difference. All very easy to revert in the long run.

Also dry ice blast or clean the underside and see exactly what you are working with, would make a cool article and makes wrenching so much more pleasurable on these things.
