Good luck. I've watched for years and never found anything less than hundreds of $ from Australia.
Yea they aren't cheap. Demon-Tweeks in the UK has new Super Oscars for $145ea or replicas made by SIM for $85ea. Hoping I can find some used for cheaper but doubt it.
that's a good looking little car, my personal engine vote is something NA with high compression and high redline!
Awesome car. I've run into them in the junkyards down here from time to time and always thought it was a shame. Really cool base for a project.
copied and reposted from 2012....
had one a LOOOOOONG time ago......
Very nice car... decent chassis, light weight.
The 1.9 liter engine isn't all that bad for the late 1960s, but there are far superior swaps now available.... a well tweaked on 4AGE would do me fine.......
Now for inspiration... the MOST OUTRAGEOUS Manta EVER built anywhere.......

While out scrounging Miata parts for the Volvo, I walked into a guys shop and saw a Manta up on his chassis place. He was in the midst of putting Miata roller-skate under it and was quite surprised that I knew what it was.
I always put Opel into my CL searches. The want is strong for a kadett. I new a guy who was 6'11" and had a Ralley Kadette. Thought is was a really cool car.

Yes.
Cool car. Nice find. A volunteer or official of the local SCCA has one of those in mint condition. There's also one parked with layers of dust on it at the RV park where I park my trailer.

I will eventually. I might be up to a Detroit event soon, I'll let you know.
Yah, it was a complete running setup from a stock port 6-port 13B from a Midget swap. I have both engines, too. (One good one blown) I was thinking of yanking the bridge port and Megasquirt out of the RX-7 and throwing the stockport and carb in there. Or not. But if you want to buy the carb/manifold setup, that is one less temptation to move away from bridgeness.
I also have a really, really goofy looking header that routes the exhaust down and under the transmission, presumably for chassirail clearance.
I had a green one just out of high school. The bright green. It was the victim of my first engine swap. It ended up with a Buick V6 with Edelbrock cam and manifold etc. and a T5 tranny. Tight fit, had to swap the exhaust manifolds and run the exhaust out the front and wrap it around under the car.
IIRC the Buick weighed less than that 1.9, hell, I think a small block Chevy weighs less than that 1.9 Would love to revisit the Manta corner of my brain and do another sometime. Until I finish my 5 other projects I'll have to just follow your build and dream.
